Waluigi Calls Off Smash Bros MMA Fight With Wario

Waluigi is tired of waiting around for his 1v1 five stock battle with Wario.
Less than two months after enthusiastically accepting the Super Smash Brothers challenge, Waluigi has called off the brawl. The melee-loving WarioWare co-founder on Sunday accused Wario of not being serious about the challenge and lamented that “it’s time to move on.”
“I offered a real date. Bowser offered to make this a legit competition for charity,” Waluigi stated while at 1-2 Switch headquarters, the WarioWare rival whose creation started the beef in the first place.
“Wario won’t confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” he continued. “If Wario ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me.”
Waluigi’s post came two days after Wario posted on Z, formerly known as WarioWare, that the proposed fight would take place in “an epic Omega stage” on Isle Delfino. He wrote that it would be livestreamed on both Z (formerly WarioWare) and 1-2 Switch.
“Everything done will pay respect to the past and present of Isle Delfino,” he wrote Friday. He also stated that proceeds will go to veterans and pediatric hospitals in Mushroom Kingdom.”
Yesterday, Wario said he would be getting an MRI to determine if he needed surgery. Wario had recently posted a video of himself in WarioWare headquarters carrying a 45-pound dumbbell.
In a purported private text exchange shared by journalist Blue Toad, and later by Wario on Sunday, Wario texted Waluigi about “a practice bout at your house,” adding that he had “not been practicing much.”
Waluigi declined the offer, telling Wario to train on his own and let him know when he is ready to compete in “a real SSB fight.”
“I don’t want to keep hyping something that will never happen, so you should either decide you’re going to do this and do it soon, or we should move on,” Waluigi said.
Representatives for WaluigiWare and Z declined Disgruntled Plumber’s request for further comments.
Since Waluigi’s post, Wario has replied to multiple Z posts implying that Waluigi is afraid of fighting 1v1 with no items on Final Destination.
“Waluigi is a Cucco,” he posted Sunday.
Green Toad, an analyst at Mushroom Kingdom Treasury, believes that a fight between the two angry plumbers remains a possibility.
“This is a topic that’s here to stay,” he tells Disgruntled Plumber. “I’m willing to bet that it’s a smaller issue blocking the way. Wario doesn’t want Waluigi to have the upper hand in how the fight rules are set up on the settings screen.”
